37 members of Troop 502 recently participated in our law merit badge day program, a full-day program with guest speakers including a criminal prosecutor, private practice attorney and LAPD detective. The scouts learned about the history and kinds of laws, the purpose and methods of law enforcement, consumer protection agencies, emerging law, and careers in the legal profession. The scouts completed written worksheets covering all requirements for the law merit badge and met in small groups to discuss their findings.
The program culminated with a mock trial put on by the scouts with the assistance of several volunteer attorneys. The two juries came back with different verdicts based upon the same trial evidence.
Members of Troop 502 continued our annual tradition of leading the city's Memorial Day service with the flag ceremony at LCF Memorial Park on May 30, 2016.
