Eight scouts from Troop 502 opened the La Canada school board public meeting on January 10, 2017, with an opening flag ceremony and led the board and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. The scouts were recognized by Board President Dan Jeffries and received commemorative school board pins. The color guard included scouts Jack Gilmore, Christopher Tu, Tyler Callahan, Michael Haleblian, Ben Hubler, Brandon Hsu, Ethan Hsu and Warren Lam.
This weekend (Dec 10-11) we had 16 Scouts and 4 adult leaders participate in our annual Introduction to Backpacking outing. We hiked into Cooper Canyon Trail Camp, right near Mt. Waterman. Did a side Nature Hike and worked on backpacking skills including water filtration and cooking on lightweight stoves. Also had a really nice campfire … even better since it was pretty cold up at 6,500’ on Saturday night. The outing concluded with a Scouts Own on Sunday morning before hiking out and back to La Canada. Click on "Read More" to see additional pictures.
