Scouts from Troop 502 led the La Canada Memorial Day observances today with the flag ceremony in Memorial Park, and participated in the parade. From Dr. Joe: "Troop 502... you guys nailed it. Stalwart! Your military bearing was perfect. 502 always faithful. Flag detail is a revered job. The tradition comes from the Battle of Missionary Ridge in Chattanooga Tennessee, 1863. The flag detail of the 24th Wisconsin went down time and time again. Arthur MacArthur finally picks up the flag and rallies the regiment yelling, 'On Wisconsin.' The regiment serges and takes the field. Great job 502."
On Memorial Day we have one of our most important community service opportunities … the Flag Ceremony at the opening of the La Canada Memorial Park celebrations. The sign-up link is below. Please make some time to come down in the morning and help out.
In addition, we have an opportunity to carry some banners in the parade. Slots are available to sign up for that activity as well.
Finally, we need scouts to sign up for the Memorial Day Snow Cone Booth between 12-3pm and 3pm-6pm. Scouts working the booth will be have the option to earn the Entrepreneur merit badge with Mrs. Sercel.

Troop 502 congratulates Lenny and Luca, who completed their Eagle Board of Reviews and are our newest Eagle Scouts. Since the inception of the Eagle Scout award in 1912, only 1%-2% percent of eligible Scouts have earned Scouting’s highest honor.
