From July 21-27, 2019, our troop will be camping at Cherry Valley. This camp is always a summer favorite. The most popular Boy Scout Summer Camp in the Western United States, located on legendary Santa Catalina Island, it is a ferry ride across the channel to a camp that dates to the 1920s. Camp Cherry Valley offers opportunities for many water sports including canoeing, rowing, sailing and swimming. Because it is located on the leeward side of the island, the cove is calm making it a perfect place for lots of fun in the water. Hikes over mountainous terrain, war canoe races, and touring an old silver mine.

There is limited space, so be sure to sign-up now.

Scouts & Parents,

I have the honor of announcing that an Eagle Court of Honor is being convened next Sunday, January 27 at LCPC. The Troop will gather to help set-up at 2pm and the ceremony will begin at 3pm. The 2018 Eagle Scouts being honored are: John Balog and Nathan Snow.

Star to Life Scouts:

This is your opportunity to show your “scout spirit” and support a fellow Troop 502 scout celebrate his journey to Eagle Scout. Whether you know these two scouts or not is immaterial. You are fellow scouts and should “be prepared” to support each other in times of struggle and in times of celebration. By attending this Eagle Court of Honor you will hear about the projects these scouts completed which may give you ideas for your own Eagle projects. If you have already chosen your Eagle project this ceremony will give you a chance to see how the Eagle Court of Honor is conducted. All good information.

Parents of Star to Life Scouts:

No scout attains the rank of Eagle Scout without the love and support, and perhaps a swift kick or two, from his parents. An Eagle Court of Honor is not a time just for scouts to gather. It is a time for our entire Troop 502 family to come together and that includes parents and siblings of Troop 502 scouts. By attending the Eagle COH, you will also be able to see what the Eagle Ceremony looks like and hopefully see the clear value in continuing to walk the Eagle path with your son.

Eagle Scouts:

Not long ago you took the Eagle Scout Promise or you will make that promise in the near future. Joining John and Nathan in celebrating their joining the ranks of Eagle scouts helps fulfill that promise. That promise says:

“I reaffirm my allegiance to the three promises fo the Scout Oath. I thoughtfully recognize and take upon myself the obligations and responsibilities of an Eagle Scout. On my honor, I will do my best to make my training an example and my status and my influence count strongly for the betterment of Scouts and for the betterment of citizenship in my troop, in my community and in my contacts with other people. To this I pledge my sacred honor.”

As always, dress is Class A Tuxedo.

I look forward to seeing many of you next Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Sercel
